Our Story
time out foods
Welcome to Time Out Foods, the site of Omaha’s Best Fried Chicken. We are not nationwide but have been voted the best in Omaha.
Time Out Foods is one of the oldest black-owned businesses in North Omaha. Time Out was first established by the Swanson Corporation in 1969. The restaurant was initially promoted by Bob Gibson, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, and Bob Boozer, a professional basketball star of the Seattle Supersonics. The Big Bob burger was named after Bob Boozer. Time Out Foods has been family-owned and operated since 1971.
Time Out still prepares the same menu items as it did 50 years ago. For good reason, we have become a household name to many in Omaha when it comes to fried chicken. Do not take our word for it, though! Stop in and taste for yourself!
Still in the family
Celebrating 50 years of service in Omaha, Time Out is still a family-owned business. Pictured is a mom, two daughters, and a grandson outside the restaurant after the 45 annual Native Omaha Days come to a close.
